Firewood processing is part of our history, and thanks to our company’s founder, this work is now much more safe and easy. Ferdinand Posch founded our company in 1947, and even back then he was a man of action and a pioneer. Ferdinand Posch would now be over 120 years old. Now, an innovative product is reviving his pioneering spirit and taking log splitting to a new, smarter level.

2-in-1: For timber sold by the metre AND short timber
As well as full-length logs, Ferdinand can also perform splitting on short timber up to 33 cm in length in no time at all. Thanks to its intelligent control system, Ferdinand automatically detects when the optional short-log table is in use and precisely adjusts the splitting stroke length to match the table height. Thanks to its handy wheels and sturdy handle, this robust short-log table can be pushed fast and easily into the splitting area.

Ferdinand can be operated with just one hand: At the touch of a button, the machine performs automatic splitting of the trunks, leaving both your hands free during the splitting process so you can use the time for other tasks, such as preparing new trunks or stacking the split wood. With Ferdinand, you’ll save time and perform splitting safely and with less effort.
Adjustable splitting stroke
The splitting stroke can be set or adjusted in both directions using the TouchEncoder (an electronic control system). If the splitting stroke is limited at the top, the clearance to the log is reduced, and the setting is saved for future splitting processes.
Touch Encoder
The modern control unit with a high-resolution display enables smart communication with Ferdinand: Display of daily and total hours, oil temperature, PTO speed and cutting pressure, as well as the option to switch the work lights on or off.
Safety light curtain
The sensor technology fitted to the side wings ensures safety and easy access to the splitting area. This protects everyone involved in the splitting process. If the light curtain is interrupted – whether by the operator or a piece of wood – the splitting process stops immediately and the splitting blade returns to its starting position.
Winch included
Large logs that cannot be moved by hand are effortlessly pulled towards the machine by the standard hydraulically driven winch, which has a pulling force of 750 kg. Wireless remote control and block strip hook included. Opening the side panels extends the operating range of the winch to 180 degrees.
A larger workspace, more freedom
Ferdinand’s two side arms protect what is important: You and everyone involved in the work process. When in the working position, they form a lateral enclosure around the entire splitting area. In addition, the standard-fit LEDs ensure optimum lighting – ideal in low-light conditions or at dusk. The lower section is equipped with cushioned, shock-absorbing surfaces that act as anti-slip pads and provide impact protection for split wood.

Thanks to powerful LED lighting, you’ll always have a clear view of your work area, even at dusk, in poor lighting conditions or in the early hours of the morning. The bright, even lighting ensures that obstacles, tools and work materials remain clearly visible. Not only will this allow
you to work more precisely and comfortably, but it will also significantly improve your safety, as it minimises the risk of accidents caused by poor visibility.You’ll benefit from a comfortable working environment and noticeable relief for your eyes, particularly during shifts of a longer length.
Base plate with a functional design
The special, improved design of the base plate, when used in combination with the Fixomatic 2.0 system, provides an ideal foundation and a secure hold for your trunk. It ensures greater stability and therefore greater safety and comfort when loading or splitting wood. What’s more, it can be easily folded up at for quick and easy cleaning.

Our two Bernds with Ferdinand
Our two ‘Bernds’ from the test department have put the new log splitter through its paces: Our Bernd, who had more ‘experience’, did the splitting in a head-to-head comparison with a 30-year-old model, whilst his colleague, the ‘young’ Bernd, worked with Ferdinand. The result was impressive: Ferdinand was absolutely brilliant at ‘splitting at the touch of a button’!
I like splitting with Ferdinand because it makes my work much easier
. Compared to a standard two-handed combination tool, I always have both hands free and don’t have to hold them above my head all the time. This makes the work much more ergonomic and considerably less tiring.
