About Posch

Ferdinand Posch, a trained metalworker, set up a small metalworking workshop in the utility room of his parents-in-law’s house in Leibnitz and carried out his first minor turning and milling jobs. The Posch rope winch of 1952 became the first series-produced device and was in great demand. He developed the prototype of a maize husking machine, which later went into successful mass production under the name ‘Schälboy’; it remained a fixed fixture in the product range for over 30 years.

Heinz-Peter Posch is taking over his father’s business. In 1968, he developed the‘Maisrebler P1500’, which had an hourly output of 1,500 kg. In 1970, the‘Streufix’row-type fertiliser spreader was introduced – a fertiliser wagon with sliding hoppers designed for two rows in maize cultivation.

POSCH is launching its range of firewood-processing equipment with the first mechanical log splitter, the “Maxi ”. It remained part of the product line until 1999. In 1974, , the first warehouse, covering an area of 1,000 m², was built on the site of the company’s current headquarters.

Foundation of Posch GesmbH. Relocation of the entire production to Kaindorf. The first POSCH logo is created. In 1979, the company began developing and manufacturing circular saws there, including roller-bench saws, tilting table saws and tilting saws, with a wide variety of drive options.

The first hydraulic log splitters ,the ‘HydroMax 10t’, are developed. The first computer-controlled HEID turning machine for the series production of the Maxi Kegel was purchased. In 1981,the ‘Hydro-Mini’with 8 tonnes andthe ‘HydroSuper’with 20 tonnes of splitting force followed.

The‘Sägomat 500’and the‘Spaltboy’are launched on the market. The“Scheitermat”and the“SpaltFix 300”are launched. So the cutting, splitting and loading of firewood in one work step became possible. POSCH commissions its first NC nibbling machine for punching out sheet metal workpieces.

The first“HydroCombi”, with a splitting force of 20 tonnes and a splitting stroke of 1 m, and the“SplitAxt”(6t/8t) are taking the market by storm. In 1986, the new office building for sales and development, with an adjoining research department, was completed, along with the expansion of the production facilities. The “SplitAxt 8t” is now available for the first time with an adjustable splitting table for metre-long logs.

The registration of the POSCH Leibnitz trademark asa “specialist in firewood production”lays an important foundation. In 1987, the first ASEA welding robot with a swivel table was put into service. A year later, it was followed by a second one. In 1989, the dip-coating plant – featuring a pre-treatment stage and two possible topcoats in the POSCH colours green and orange – was commissioned. The first laser cutting machine was introduced in 1990.

Development of the current POSCH logo and registration as a word and figurative mark. The new slogan was: Cutting. Splitting. Chopping. Technology for our environment. In 1992, the Bavarian sales branch in Velden/Vils was added. In 1993, the new assembly hall, covering around 3,000 m², was built in Kaindorf. POSCH set out to conquer the continent. In 1995, POSCH was certified to the ISO 9001 quality management system .

Conferral of the national coat of arms. Order of merit for special services rendered to the Austrian economy. And POSCH is constantly evolving. In 1999, there was the market introduction of the HOME range with machines for private households. At the same time, POSCH 2000 is also further expanding its range of specialist and industrial machinery with the“SpaltFix SPK-500”, with large-scale machines such asthe “SplitMaster Crane”to follow.

Following the commissioning of the largest production hall, covering 5,300 m², Heinz-Peter Posch is taking his well-deserved retirement. He made the company number 1 in Europe in the field of firewood processing over the past decades. In 2004, their daughter, Petra Tinnacher ( Eng.), and son-in-law, Johann Tinnacher ( Eng.), took over the management of the company. Elfriede Posch continued to manage all marketing activities until the end of 2006. She built up the POSCH brand from the very beginning and made it what it is today.

Development of a second brand: PALDU – calculated to the last detail

Concept and development of the secondary brand PALDU, with a clear positioning in the price-conscious market segment. A distinctive brand identity was created, ranging from brand strategy and visual identity to the communication strategy. With the slogan “precision-calculated”, PALDU stands for reliable log splitters and circular saws offering tried-and-tested POSCH quality and excellent value for money.

Strategic expansion of the product portfolio through the development and market launch of the PackFix packaging system. In addition, the range of log splitters has been expanded to include the SpaltFix K-5000 and the SpaltFix K-3800 . 

Planning and implementation of the extension to the sales office, the customer service office and a modern meeting room. The focus was on optimising work processes, creating additional jobs and designing a functional, professional environment for internal collaboration as well as for meetings with clients and partners.

The Fixomatic system, designed to improve safety and convenience during firewood splitting, and the new‘tilting saw’are being developed. This makes us the first and only manufacturer to be awarded the GS certificate.

The new 4,000 m² production hall and the commissioning of the powder coating plant in 2013 herald a new era of the highest quality, reliability and lasting value.

The introduction of a product campaign well worth seeing takes place with a new look. The new catalogue and website showcase a range of improved or new products. The new‘HydroCombi 18’ , featuring the new winch, is the best HydroCombi ever made. The“SpaltFix K-650 Vario”turns whole logs up to 65 cm in diameter into neat logs, making firewood production more profitable than ever before. And the new“AutoCut”leaves everything we’ve seen before in the dust when it comes to automatic saws.

Thanks to the SpaltFix K Vario principle, POSCH achieves the desired improvement in quality in firewood processing. This powerful, efficient machine produces logs of the desired length from trunks up to 65 cm. The highest configuration level is now also available for mobile applications.

A saw blade that promises pure sawing pleasure! Thanks to advanced sound-absorption technology and a specially developed tooth geometry, ‘purr’ drastically reduces the noise level during cutting and ensures a more pleasant working environment. The ‘purr’ saw blade ismanufactured inGermany and is now fitted as standard on all POSCH tilting saws and tilting saws with a conveyor belt. Of course, this purre cutting experience can also be retrofitted!

With‘Waldwärts’, POSCH has created a platform for discussion on all matters relating to forests, timber and modern forestry technology. The series of events brings together forest owners, forestry professionals, firewood producers and anyone with an interest in the subject, providing practical knowledge, innovative solutions and valuable insights into the sustainable use of wood as a resource. With this move, POSCH is taking a further step towards promoting expertise and strengthening dialogue within the industry. At the same time, the new Ferdinand was unveiled! An innovative product that takes wood splitting to a whole new level.
