Screening and feeding function

The sieve unit is the central component of the LogFix and is responsible for the actual cleaning function. It consists of several screening shafts arranged side by side, which are mounted at a distance from one another so that the screening discs overlap. Every second wave is axially offset, which precisely defines the fixed screening width. The screening shafts, fitted with square screening discs welded on at an angle, run in solid cast housing bearings and guarantee maximum stability. A powerful gearbox or hydraulic motor drives a shaft, whilst robust sprockets and roller chains reliably transmit the power to all subsequent shafts – ensuring consistently high performance. As they rotate, the screening shafts create a dynamic vibrating motion that loosens the logs, thereby efficiently removing impurities. The screened material falls reliably through the gaps between the screen bars. The shaft speed increases in the direction of conveyance from one screen shaft to the next, causing the gap between the logs to increase continuously and thereby improving the cleaning performance accordingly. During the cleaning process, the logs are conveyed further along and then discharged at the outlet – without the need for any additional feed unit.

Adjustable hopper for the central discharge of chaff

The adjustable waste hopper ensures a clean workplace by allowing the screened-out waste to be collected in a central location beneath the LogFix, thanks to its funnel shape. These will either fall into a container provided by the customer or be transported away via a conveyor belt positioned underneath. In addition, the angle and length of the two sloping sides of the waste hopper can be adjusted tool-free. This means that both the opening of the hopper and the distance to the floor can be optimally adjusted to the operating conditions, allowing it to be perfectly adapted to the size of the container being applied to and thus ensuring a clean transfer. In addition, the waste hopper ensures safety, as it reliably prevents access to the screening shafts on the LogFix 30 from below.

Tilt adjustment

The ability to adjust the tilt of the screen surface allows the transport speed of the logs over the screening rollers to be controlled, thereby also influencing the cleaning efficiency. The steeper the angle of the screen surface is set, the longer the logs remain on it. This increases the cleaning time and results in even cleaner logs. The tilt of the log screen can be adjusted from 0 to 10 degrees by raising the screening unit slightly using a lifting tool and releasing the locking tabs. The sieve unit can then be adjusted to the desired tilt by raising or lowering it using the lifting tool, and subsequently secured in place with the locking tabs.

Height-adjustable base frame

The height-adjustable feet of the base frame can be adjusted by up to 1300 mm to allow for individual adjustment of the feed and ejection heights. The desired position is fixed easily and with safety in 100-mm increments using bolts. Clamping screws in the base frame’s guide tube further secure the adjustable feet without any play, thereby ensuring that the machine is set up stably. To perform a height adjustment, the machine must be lifted using a suitable lifting tool.

Filling hopper

The side walls of the filling hopper ensure that the logs fed in via the conveyor belt remain entirely on the screen surface and do not fall out at the sides. This elevates health and safety at work and keeps the work area clean. A larger filling hopper is available as an optional accessory for 3-sided shovel feeding with a max. capacity of 2.5 srm.

Precise ejection of the logs

A chute at the end of the screen surface ensures that the cleaned logs are discharged and transferred cleanly, for example into the feed hopper of a PackFix. On one side, the chute is shaped like a comb, so that it fits perfectly around the shape of the screen discs on the screen shaft. This prevents logs from becoming jammed between the screening shaft and the chute, or pieces of wood that are too large from slipping through.

LogFix 30 – cleaning and loading up to 30 srm/h of logs

The LogFix 30 reliably separates logs from wood chips and produces high-quality firewood in no time at all. This compact solution is ideal for cleaning logs produced by firewood processors. Rotating rollers remove unwanted chips, bark and wood splinters from the firewood and direct them to fall downwards. Operating at a speed of just 25 to 70 revolutions per minute, the LogFix is particularly quiet. Beneath the screen is a hopper which feeds the waste material either onto an optional conveyor belt or into a container. The wireless remote control allows the sieve to be switched on and off conveniently from any operator position. The LogFix 30 processes up to 30 srm per hour and can be combined with firewood processors and SpaltFix models. With the optional hopper, it is also possible to perform feeding using a shovel. For a greater ejection height, the LogFix 30 is available with an optional conveyor belt in two different lengths. A shovel feeding system is also possible with an optional hopper.

Easy maintenance

Centralised lubrication rails enable simple, even lubrication of the screen shaft bearings – they reduce wear, extend the machine’s service life and significantly reduce maintenance requirements.

Easy to use

The control box features four push-buttons, an indicator light and the emergency stop function for ease of use. - A button to start automatic mode (the screening rollers and an optional conveyor belt are switched on). - A button to stop automatic mode (all movements associated with automatic mode, such as the screening rollers and the optional conveyor belt, are stopped). - A button to manually reverse the screening rollers: Should a piece of wood ever become jammed, the screening rollers can simply be switched to reverse, allowing the wood to be released fast and with safety. The reverse movement only continues whilst pressure is applied to the button. This prevents the conveyor belt from running continuously by mistake. - A button for manually controlling the conveyor belt (forwards) on the optional conveyor belt. An optional radio remote control is available.

Swivelling conveyor belt for loading containers or trailers

The swivelling conveyor belt fitted to the discharge side of the LogFix significantly increases the ejection height and allows for flexible distribution of the logs – even during loading of tall trailers, containers or several bins placed side by side. Thanks to the swivelling design, the discharge direction can be flexible adjusted whilst filling the containers, without the need to reposition them. This improves loading efficiency, reduces the amount of work involved and enables continuous, uninterrupted operation. Select the optimum length for the required ejection height: - 3 metres with a maximum ejection height of 3.5 metres, or - 5 metres with a maximum ejection height of 4.5 metres. The conveyor belt is mounted on a swivelling bearing in the transfer area below the screening rollers and can be swivelled manually by 20 degrees to the left or right by pressing down the locking lever. Two additional handles on either side of the conveyor frame make it easier to manoeuvre when swivelling. Depending on the length of the conveyor belt, the discharge area can be adjusted laterally by 2 metres (for a 3-metre-long conveyor belt) or 2.5 metres (for a 5-metre-long conveyor belt). The tilt of the conveyor belt is adjustable continuously from 0° to 35° using a hand-operated cable winch with pulleys. An indicator on both sides of the conveyor belt shows immediately whether the tilt is within the optimum range. A certified retaining chain with a lanyard reliably secures the conveyor belt in its working position. The sturdy conveyor belt frame, with its slightly tapered trough, ensures that the logs are transported smoothly and without jamming. The 400 mm wide conveyor belt consists of individual, replaceable segments with robust metal feed rollers – ensuring safe and even material transport. A central belt guide further improves belt centring, whilst scraper bars effectively protect the deflection drum from dirt. Fabric flaps in the transition area prevent small pieces of wood from slipping through and minimise blockages. The drive drum is powered electrically by a gear motor and is mounted on durable cast housing bearings. Additional side chutes on the conveyor frame in the transition area ensure a smooth transfer of the logs from the screening unit onto the conveyor belt – meaning that the logs remain securely on the belt even when the conveyor is in its maximum swivelling position. For a conveyor belt length of 3 metres, we recommend the hydraulic swivel function (Option H). For a conveyor belt length of 5 metres, the hydraulic swivel function (Option H) is required.

Electric drive with rotation monitoring

The electric motor runs quietly and can be powered by electricity from renewable sources. These solutions help to reduce air pollution and do not produce any harmful exhaust fumes in your working environment. The gear motor is mounted directly onto the screen shaft and is securely fastened in place by a torque plate to ensure safety. This eliminates the need for additional drive components, which reduces wear and tear and makes maintenance considerably easier. By retrofitting the gear motor to a different shaft, the roller speed can be increased if required. The built-in motor protection ensures a long service life by protecting against thermal overload. In the 3x 400 V version, a phase inverter allows the direction of rotation to be easily reversed. A sensor continuously monitors the rotational movement of the screen shafts, thereby ensuring maximum operational reliability. If an obstruction is detected, the rollers first move backwards for about three seconds and then forwards again. If the blockage also occurs whilst reversing, the rollers will move forwards for about three seconds. If the blockage is not cleared immediately, the system automatically repeats the forward/reverse cycle up to three times. The automatic system then switches the machine off and indicates this status via the red indicator light on the control cabinet. In this case, the block must be removed manually. In addition, electric drives offer significant cost savings compared with conventional internal combustion engines. The electric motor’s low energy consumption reduces running costs, and the electric drive system is also easy to maintain. This reduces maintenance costs, increases the machine’s uptime and reduces the need for repairs and spare parts, leading to further cost savings in the long term.

Convenient operation via radio remote control

The machine can be operated via the radio remote control without the operator having to be in the immediate vicinity of the machine. This control allows the screening rollers to be switched on and off very easily using two buttons. With option H, the conveyor belt’s swivel function can also be controlled via the remote control. As well as the convenient radio control, all functions can also be operated directly from the control box. This enables the operator to carry out fast and easy operations on site at any time. The transmitter is powered by standard batteries and does not require a built-in rechargeable battery. The batteries can be replaced fast and cheaply at any time.

Filling hopper for 3-sided feeding

Thanks to the generously sized filling hopper, which has a capacity of up to 2.5 srm, the machine can be fed not only via a conveyor belt but also from three sides using the bucket of a wheel loader or front loader. If the LogFix 30 is fed with logs (max. 40 cm in length) via a conveyor belt, the hopper also serves as a buffer. This means that feeding – for example, via a SpaltFix – can continue uninterrupted, even if the screening process has to be briefly halted, for instance because the container being filled is full. The advantage: Less downtime, higher throughput and a smooth, seamless workflow that saves time and boosts the efficiency of the entire plant. To accommodate shovel feeding, the solid walls of the filling hopper are further reinforced by flanges in the upper section. The angle of the wall is designed to ensure that the logs always slide down reliably. In the discharge area, the hopper tapers into a channel which ensures that the logs are fed centrally onto the chute or the conveyor belt. A movable backflow flap mounted above the channel ensures that the logs are fed through in a controlled manner and improves the cleaning efficiency, as the logs remain on the screen surface for a longer length of time. In addition, the non-return flap prevents the conveyor belt from becoming blocked. The operation of the backflow valve can be adjusted by removing individual counterweights. To prevent the logs from getting mixed up when changing the log lengths, any logs remaining in the corners can be dislodged using the built-in vibrating flap. This is easily actuated via the tubular bracket fitted beneath the control cabinet.

Convenient transfer aid

To facilitate the transfer of the machine on level ground – for example, within the factory premises – an axle with two pneumatic tyres is fitted to one side of the machine and attached to the feet. On the opposite side, the machine can be easily lifted and moved using a forklift and a manoeuvring aid. A 40 mm borehole is provided for the application of the manoeuvring aid. Two connecting struts ensure that the feet are held securely in place, preventing any deformation during transfer.

Hydraulic swivel function

Thanks to the hydraulic swivel function, which uses a hydraulic cylinder, the conveyor belt can be swivelled easily using the buttons on the control box or via remote control. A compact hydraulic power unit is electrically controlled and reliably supplies the hydraulic cylinder with the hydraulic pressure required for slewing. Note: This option is only available in conjunction with the radio remote control (Option RC).
