Swivel arm

The swivel arm is mounted on the lifting mast so that it can rotate via low-maintenance plain bearings and supports the winding unit. In addition, it can be moved along the swivel arm and thus aligned with and coupled to the filling drum positioned below it.

Winding unit

To make it easy to position the winding unit above the filling drum, it can be moved linearly along the swivel arm using rollers and easily secured using the quick-change system. A spring-loaded braking unit allows the winding unit to be moved easily along the swivel arm whilst preventing it from continuing to move uncontrollably. The rotatable wrapping arm ensures that the logs are wrapped evenly inside the filling drum, whilst a counterweight ensures optimum weight distribution. The drive is provided by a hydraulic motor, which transmits the motion via a toothed belt. To prevent the wrapping arm from colliding with the pallet during the application of larger pallets in the lowest position, the sliding net roll holder can simply be raised and secured with a fixing screw. To ensure the net is wound evenly, it must remain taut throughout the winding process so that it is wound tightly around the drum and cannot slip off. This is made possible by clamping the cable reel into the holder using a quick-release fastener. The required tension can be easily adjusted using a screw. For fast replacement, the mesh roll can be changed tool-free using the quick-release mechanism. A knife is included in the scope of delivery to cut the net after the winding process; it is attached to a chain so that it is always within easy reach.

Filling drum

The filling drum, which is open at both the top and bottom, stands on a pallet and serves as a collection container for logs, which can then be subjected to packaging straight away. Once loaded, the wood can be wrapped in netting in no time at all – this simplifies and speeds up the process considerably. Thanks to its robust all-steel construction, the drum offers a long service life and requires minimal maintenance. It consists of three segments bolted together, which can be replaced individually if necessary. Two stiffening rings are fitted at the top and in the middle. The upper ring serves to reinforce the structure and as a mounting point for the quick-change system. The central stiffening ring provides additional stability and is fitted with mounting holes which, in the mobile version, ensure safety during transport. Slits on the sides of the upper section provide a clear view into the drum, allowing the filling height to be checked at any time. With a diameter of 1200 mm and a height of 1450 mm, it offers a generous loading capacity of 1.6 srm, which is roughly equivalent to one cubic metre of wood. We offer an optional filling drum with a height of 1750 mm and a filling capacity of 2 srm. The volume in cubic metres depends on the wood type, the quality of the logs, the log length, the size of the logs and the splitting technique/shape of the logs. Check the quantity produced in cubic metres, taking into account the number of logs and the production method used.

Packaging process

The drum can either be filled directly on the PackFix or positioned under the winding unit once it has already been filled. The packaging process then proceeds as follows: 1. The net is secured to the pallet by the operator using knots. 2. The packaging process is started by actuation of the rotation control lever in the operating area: The stationary filling drum is wrapped in netting by the rotating winding arm. 3. Once the filling drum has been wound round once or twice, the winding unit, including the filling drum, is raised hydraulically by actuating the second control lever again. The filling drum and the logs inside it are now securely and evenly wrapped in the round bale net. 4. This process continues until the filling drum reaches its upper end position. The packaging process stops when you release the control levers. 5. The mesh can be cut from the roll using the knife supplied. 6. The timber bundle with packaging is now ready for collection or storage.

Pallet fork for PackFix Hydro mobile

The pallet fork provides a stable base for the PackFix Hydro mobile and, in conjunction with the side support legs, ensures safety and stability throughout the entire working process. Thanks to its mobile model, the system can be easily moved by tractor to the filling drum. The pallet fork makes it easy to lift the drum and move it to the filling station. If the drum is already full, it can be wrapped in the net. Once the packaging process is complete, the finished wooden pack can be taken directly to the storage area and left there. This high degree of flexibility enables efficient workflows and the optimal use of available resources. The pallet fork stands out thanks to its robust steel construction and high-quality powder coating, which make it particularly durable and resistant to the stresses of daily use.

PackFix Hydro mobile 3-point road transport

Your tractor can tow the machine using the integrated Category three-point linkage. Transport I and II. Sophisticated securing devices ensure the safe road transport of the PackFix Hydro mobile with its filling drum, reliably securing both the filling drum and the swivel arm whilst the vehicle is in motion. To do this, rotate the swivel arm so that the counterweight is perfectly aligned with the drum lock. The hook on the winch can be easily hooked onto the jacket ring. Using the integrated hand-operated cable winch, the drum – including the winding unit – can be effortlessly pulled towards the lifting mast until it reaches the stop and tensioned. This pulls the counterweight into the drum lock, whilst a spring-loaded latch ensures that it is securely locked in place. To ensure high stability and a secure footing during storage, the PackFix Hydro mobile is fitted with two detachable support legs.

Quick-change system for the filling drums

Fast drum change, easy to use: When using several drums, the quick-change system makes it particularly easy and quick to swap them out. The drum is positioned beneath the winding unit, hooked into place and locked in position with a single movement. It’s already securely connected and ready for use, without the need for any extra tools.

PackFix Hydro mobile

The mobile version is equipped with a pallet fork and a three-point linkage, and therefore does not require a base frame. Fitted directly to the tractor, it allows the pallet, together with the filling drum, to be easily lifted, transported and used for packaging. This also makes the transport of the finished packs to the storage area simple and efficient – without the need for forklift trucks or pallet trucks. (Note: (A forklift is required to stack the finished packs on top of one another.) There are two drive options available for operation: Either via the tractor’s hydraulic system or via the tractor PTO shaft. Thanks to the integrated three-point linkage, it can be used flexibly in almost any location. Floor frames are optional for feeding with a forklift or pallet truck.

PackFix: Firewood with neat packaging – ideal for drying, storing and delivery.

Fresh firewood must be left to dry thoroughly before use to ensure it reaches its full calorific value and burns cleanly and efficiently. Whilst metre-long logs can simply be stored on a woodpile, this is less practical for logs with a length of up to 50 cm. This is exactly where PackFix comes in – the ideal solution for the efficient storage and drying of firewood ready for the stove. The sturdy packs can be stacked on top of one another, which is handy for space-saving storage. The logs fall directly from the conveyor belt or the screening plant into the filling drum. They are then wrapped in a breathable mesh. The optional hydraulic swivel table allows the drum to be filled on one side and used for packaging on the other. This enables virtually uninterrupted production.

The open side of the U-shaped frame is generously sized, so that the drum, once positioned on the pallet, can be easily and safely lowered onto the floor beneath the PackFix Hydro using a pallet truck or forklift. An integrated, adjustable stop enables the pallet to be positioned precisely and ensures repeatable alignment for efficient workflows. It can be flexible in its adaptation to both standard pallet sizes. The robust steel construction with a high-quality powder coating makes the sub-frame particularly durable and resilient in everyday use. Adjustable feet ensure a stable setup even on uneven ground. For space-saving storage or transport, the frame sections, which are mounted on rotatable bearings at the sides, can be easily folded away by loosening the fixing screws.

PackFix Hydro Stationary installation

Thanks to its integrated forklift attachments, the PackFix Hydro can be easily transported by forklift whilst stationary and set up with minimal effort. Once the machine has been installed, the forklift attachments must be removed. With Option GH, transport by forklift is only possible with the floor frame folded down and using the standard delivery aid.
